Between the six-overtime Big East thriller to the double-overtime fun of Duke battling the Johnnies in the Garden-there are literally hundreds of great college basketball games that deserve to be discussed.

The result: Kansas’ 109-106 triple-overtime victory against the formerly undefeated Sooners.

“We just have to take it as a loss and just keep getting better”, Woodard said.

This Big Monday certainly did not disappoint.

Other Top 10 menNo.

It’s a matchup of top Big 12 teams today when No. 3 Kansas hosts No. 2 Oklahoma at 9PM ET. “I think there’s no doubt who the No. 1 team in the nation is”.

Quickly falling into a 24-4 hole, the Bears (10-3) never recovered against the talented Jayhawks. Pushing KU to the limit, and beyond, in that venue indicates that OU might be a tad better on a neutral court.

Monday night’s explosion was not that abnormal of a night for Hield. Graham registered 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 shooting at the free throw line, including the go-ahead points for the Jayhawks. “No matter how good I do, I believe I could have done better”.

Perry Ellis is one smooth customer.

On the other side, Perry Ellis was piling up 27 points and 13 rebounds in a virtuoso performance of his own against the second-ranked Sooners. Ellis, viewed as a second-round National Basketball Association pick, can certainly be a reliable option for a team making an NCAA title run.

IOWA 69, RUTGERS 65 (at Iowa City, Iowa) – The Scarlet Knights went cold in the final five minutes and it cost them in falling to the Hawkeyes. The 13th-ranked Cyclones went into Norman on Saturday and led Oklahoma most of the way before falling 87-83 in a game played at a level pretty close to OU-KU.

In a world where one-and-done college basketball has become the norm, the Sooners are the odd-team out, a roster filled with seniors and, perhaps most importantly, seniors that can score.

Zach LeDay scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half and blocked London Perrantes’ attempt to tie the game in the final seconds and the Hokies stunned the Cavaliers (12-2, 1-1 ACC) in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Up next for KU, a Saturday trip to Texas Tech.

The Bears were ready to start focusing on Oklahoma State as soon as that debacle was over. Oklahoma hasn’t won in Phog Allen in Hield’s lifetime. The Jayhawks can pull both experience and blue-chip freshmen off their bench. The Jayhawks were 11 of 22 from beyond the arc….

The Sooners committed three consecutive turnovers inside the final minute of the last overtime, two off steals by Kansas guards Frank Mason and Devonte’ Graham.

“You just had to go out there and grind it out and make plays”, Hield said.

Instead, they’ll await Round II. Hield, a 6-4 guard, delivered in a big way despite being on the losing end of a 109-106 triple overtime loss.

Elsewhere, Maryland and Virginia both moved up one spot to third and fourth and Michigan State, which was No. 1 for the last four weeks, fell to fifth.

“It’s going to be fun”, Sooners star Buddy Hield said.
