Van Gaal said he respected Guardiola’s wish to coach in the Premier League, but said nothing should be taken for granted.
“I have said that two years ago that it is not so odd”, he said.
“It is good to have ambitions as a manager and he wants sample the culture of England to sample”.
“I’m at the end of my career so for me [his arrival] it’s not so interesting”, Van Gaal added. “For me, what is interesting is how I take care of Manchester United and I still have one year to go after this season”.
It’s not just Valdes that will be on the agenda though as with Adnan Januzaj returning from his loan spell and Watford striker Odion Ighalo declaring his undying love for the Reds today’s press conference should have plenty to keep the fans and journalists busy.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has ruled out Phil Jones from their FA Cup clash against Sheffield United tomorrow, but also revealed that a number of players are in the fitness “red zone”.
“I don’t think this is insane as that is football, you can win some and you can lose some”, he said.
They also claim that Bayern won over the Italian by making him feel “more wanted” than United, also claiming that he “great confidence in the existing structures” at the Allianz Arena than he did about the situation at Old Trafford.
“Every match is hard to win, no matter what level you have to compete with”.
