If the clips are any indication the second night of American Idol season 15 should be every bit as good as the first. The net is hoping to recapture the magic with a shorted “farewell season” that figures to take many trips down memory lane of a show once labeled by rival networks as “the Death Star” because of its unrelenting dominance for years.

Part of the show’s success was thanks to the charm of Seacrest and the icy putdowns of British impresario Simon Cowell, the most famous of its judges, who stepped down in 2010. The two episodes that aired this week included auditions from Denver, Savannah, Little Rock and San Francisco.

The American Idol premiere continues with tonight’s segue as the Judges head to Little Rock and San Francisco plus the return of more familiar Idol faces. “The 20-year-old Vaid, an Indian-American whose parents came to this country as kids, belted out “Look at Me” by “Idol” champ Carrie Underwood”.
Kerry Courtney, the singer of local pop-rock ensemble Goodnight Neverland, is headed to Los Angeles after earning a golden ticket from judges on Wednesday’s season premiere.
Shelbie Z. also was highlighted on the show in a biographical segment, introducing viewers to her life as a small-town girl and her job as a hair stylist. Connick insisted on leaving the cuffs on throughout Molinaro’s performance, and then, while still recovering from the pain, said he’d happily be Tasered by Molinaro the next time they met. Uh … whatever you’re into, Harry.
But over the last 10 years the rise of the Internet and online consumption of music and videos have seen American Idol lose its grip. The judges suggested Lindita might want to dial back the runs, but Lopez commended her for “power and confidence” and said she had soul.
