White: Holm to fight prior to Rousey rematch

Holm, meanwhile, said earlier that she feels she can improve from her fight against Rousey. Rousey, 28, of Venice, Calif., has largely been out of the public eye since losing the title to Holm at UFC 193 via head-kick TKO. And apparently White feels he should respect her wishes, because on Wednesday he went on Fox Sports 1′s UFC Tonight and announced that Holm would fight somebody between now and the Rousey rematch.

As for Ronda, she is still two of the biggest stars in the UFC despite her setback and fans will surely watch her fight.

As for Rousey, the fact Holm will fight another opponent doesn’t mean the ex-champ will not compete again.

That’s when she’ll once again appear in the magazine’s annual Swimsuit Issue, only this time, she’ll be wearing little more than bodypaint.

In the same report, Fresquez also said that UFC was going to make an announcement later this week about Holm’s next fight, which he also hoped to be sooner rather than later.

All along, Holm and her manager, Lenny Fresquez, sought to avoid the extended wait for Rousey, who will film a remake of “Roadhouse” in Patrick Swayze’s role of the bar bouncer before the rematch. US soccer hero Carli Lloyd, UFC star Rousey and three-time victor Serena Williams were the top three vote-getters for The Associated Press 2015 Female Athlete of the Year award. The loss to Holm already allowed future opponents to get a peak at possible weaknesses in her once un pregnable attack.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s former women’s bantamweight champion will host Saturday Night Live on January 23, the show announced Tuesday.
