Warriors blow out Lakers in comfortable win
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Klay Thompson scored 22 of his 36 points in the first quarter and Stephen Curry added 17 before sitting out the fourth to rest his ailing leg in the Golden State Warriors’ 109-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. The NBA’s reigning MVP missed two games at the end of 2015 due to the calf ailment before he was forced to exit the Warriors’ Jan. 2 contest against the Denver Nuggets with a left shin contusion.

Steph Curry allayed any fears over his fitness as he led Golden State Warriors to a 111-101 win over Charlotte Hornets in the National Basketball Association – their 35th regular-season home win in a row.
The downside for the 33-2 Warriors was that while doing so, Stephen Curry continues to find it hard to shake off his lower left leg injury.
“It’s just frustrating and annoying and all of the other adjectives that you want to throw in there”.
Curry scored 30 points in 31 minutes of playing time after having his previous outing cut short because of a recurring left calf injury.
“I’m not going to sit out four weeks, so we’ve just got to figure out how to protect it when I’m out there on the floor and keep playing.”
The Lakers have won their last two games without Kobe Bryant in the lineup, and the Warriors may be without the Most Valuable Player for the second straight game.
“Nothing surprises me with him”, Walton said of Curry.
“We played good. We just needed to make some more plays”, Hornets backup Jeremy Lamb guard said.
The Warriors have a couple of days off before another back-to-back when they play the Blazers and Kings on the road on Friday and Saturday.
“He does it so quietly, too… although obviously not verbally”, said Thompson.
Jordan Clarkson was the Lakers’ lone bright spot, scoring 23 points and grabbing five rebounds. Thompson and Rush would combine to score all of the Warriors’ first 25 points of the game, pacing Golden State to a 25-18 lead with 4:57 remaining in the first quarter. The Warriors toyed with the Lakers into the third quarter before pushing their lead from 66-55 to 88-55 in 5 1/2 minutes.
With all that, Scott had to pit his Lakers against the defending champion Golden State Warriors sans Bryant (sore right shoulder) and Russell (sore throat) on Tuesday at Staples Center. Larry Nance Jr. scored nine points and pulled down seven rebounds. Shaun Livingston also did not play in the second game of a back-to-back.
Draymond Green might not be the highest scorer on his team or the most athletic, but you can be sure the former Michigan State star will give his full effort night in and night out for the Golden State Warriors.
He scored 12 points in the first quarter and had 20 points by halftime.
