After recently calling Klopp a “soft German” following Sunderland’s defeat against Liverpool, Allardyce this week offered his thoughts on the Reds’ current injury crisis which has sidelined 10 first-team players, six of whom have or are recovering from hamstring injuries.

“The fans have been different class for the past four or five games, the atmosphere was unbelievable”.

“It’s a compromise between how much you risk, but what we don’t want to do is just go into the game to defend”, explained the Grecians manager in the build-up to the match.

“It’s extremely hard because of the amount of games we play in the Premier League”.

“It was hard in our situation because we have the opposite of a fine tuned team – we trained together for exactly 45 minutes and had to try to create a common idea”, he said on LFC TV. If someone is not interested in my situation, how can I be interested in their opinion? So in the end we have to respect our own situation. “Maybe we go on holiday?”

But Tisdale, in charge since 2006, says that his team will take the fight to Liverpool as they look to pull off a result comparable to their 0-0 draw against Manchester United at this stage of the tournament 11 years ago.

Luis Suarez, Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll scored that day before Exeter’s Daniel Nardiello scored a consolation penalty from Martin Skrtel’s foul. That has nothing to do with the intensity of games. “Offensive wingers and a centre-half was really interesting for us at the moment, that’s why we made the decision”.

Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Jordon Ibe has picked up an injury ahead of the match to add to the woes. Christian Benteke had a problem with his Achilles.

“We want to work with them and we will see what happens”.

Should Enrique feature it would complete an astounding return to favour after he was told last -summer he would not play for the club again.

However, Bologna have always been in negotiations about loaning Ronacchia, while Klopp’s former side are not willing to lose players in January.

As noted yesterday: with all the injuries, if Teixeira doesn’t play today, it will be an absolute disgrace. “I am not too sure at this moment (whether any more will be brought back) but it is possible”. We have to see.
