Jed York embarrassed with 49ers’ results but will keep GM Baalke
Yes, firing Tomsula was inevitable – one season after they undermined and then fired Harbaugh. “So we’ll have him in the offseason program”. Baalke said no interviews had been schedule and there are no in-house candidates.

The post GM Baalke on 49ers coaching search: “We’ve got to get this one right” appeared first on 49ers Hot Read.
The New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns are also looking for coaches, while the Buffalo Bills’ Rex Ryan, New Orleans Saints’ Sean Payton and Indianapolis Colts’ Chuck Pagano are also in the hot seat. “Whether that’s a draft, whether that’s free agency, whether that’s a coaching hire”. Beyond that, I was able to recognize mistakes that I’ve made in the past. York said that DeBartolo texted him at 5:15 a.m. on Monday morning and that the two spoke at length about the state of the franchise.
“It’s a business. I don’t know what to expect”, safety Eric Reid said. Did he chicken out and didn’t want to be there or did York instruct him not to be there?
In terms of his future with the 49ers, Kaepernick says, “I’m under contract, I’m a 49er”. Thomas’s first decision was to fire the current head coach, Monte Clark.
The Colts won a game to avoid their first losing season since 2011.
York said that he is willing to spend whatever it takes to get the team back to championship caliber, but will spend it wisely.
Well, 40 years later, the cycle has repeated itself to a degree.
The 49ers finished the 2015 campaign 5-11, their worst record since 2005 when they finished 4-12.
San Francisco reached three straight NFC championship games in Harbaugh’s initial three years, with a three-point Super Bowl loss to Baltimore after the 2012 season.
On Sunday night, after Tomsula’s firing, Harbaugh tweeted that “you will reap what you sow,” apparently in reference to the 49ers. But the roster has slid into disarray over the past few seasons because of injuries, surprising retirements and questionable personnel decisions. Some of their better players retired, were traded or were suspended by the NFL. Apparently, the win was not enough to save head coach Jim Tomsula’s job.
Then again, Jim Tomsula could probably find a defensive coordinator position on the college level, where he would have a slightly easier path to being a head coach again.
Tomsula demoted struggling quarterback Colin Kaepernick – now injured and recovering from shoulder surgery – in favor of Blaine Gabbert in November. In defense, Tomsula wasn’t handed a full deck when taking the job but the problem here has to go to Baalke.
Moments before the news conference, York addressed the team’s fans in a letter via Twitter, saying he wanted to “apologize to everyone that cares deeply” about the 49ers and that he “shared in their disappointments”.

York also was firm when someone brought up the matter of selling the 49ers, saying: “My family’s owned this team since before I was born and they’ll own this team after I’m gone”.
