CeeLo Green’s New Single ‘Robin Williams’ Honors Late Comedian

We heard last month that Cee Lo Green was prepping a new album for release this year, and now it’s official.

Alongside the new single, Green dropped an interactive music video tapping into Google’s search functions.

Robin Williams” is the first single off Green’s upcoming album Heart Blanche, his first record since 2012. In addition to the song’s title star, Green also calls out to other legendary funnymen gone too soon from Richard Pryor to Chris Farley to Phil Hartman.

“”Speaking about his new song, Green said: “‘Robin Williams’ is an homage to our humanity, centred around the strength it takes to smile in the face of adversity”. “We don’t know, what the next man’s going through / Wish I could say it in a plainer way / I said, we don’t know, life reminds me of Robin Williams / We’ve got to laugh the pain away”, it continued.

You can choose between Web, Images, Video and Shopping in the, no doubt Google-sponsored, video, with the Images tab particularly disorienting in a very cool way. The emotional song mourns the late Williams, who died from suicide in August 2014 at the age of 63.

The interactive video is actually pretty impressive too.
