Rumors of its impending end began swirling after Fellowes signed a deal to write “The Gilded Age”, a period drama about NY high society for NBC. “We can promise a final season full of all the usual drama and intrigue but with the added excitement of discovering how and where they all end up”. It began its run set in 1912 with the news of the sinking of the famous ship the Titanic.

“No kidding? I don’t want to be reminded of that!” We couldn’t just come back in Episode 1 and they’re already married or it’s their wedding day.
“It really is over”, Neame said.
They’ve just been the ultimate star-crossed lovers on the show and I’ve got to say that we’re going to put them through a few more hurdles before we bring them into land in the series. While the actress appeared confident about the final season of the show, Jim Carter visibly had certain qualms regarding the ending of the show.
“I hope we’ve ended in a way that the fans will feel satisfied”, he says.
Mr. Neame said he’s also glad to have the series end with the cast as intact as it is. “It’s just these people trying to get through life, be they lord of the manor or kitchen maid”, he says. “That would be the worst thing”. I think we have a great hunger for community the way we live now. So it was an emotional scene.
