A few days before the Denver Broncos decided on their playoff starter, Osweiler said that winning would be what matters the most, not who ends up starting at quarterback.

Osweiler was 4-2 as a starter and a key contributor to the Broncos’ earning home-field advantage in the AFC in Manning’s absence and Kubiak had said repeatedly that he has conveyed to both quarterbacks that the Broncos “will need everybody” in the postseason. The Broncos faced a deficit, but Manning led the team to a 27-20 win to clinch the first seed in the AFC.

Manning missed seven starts with a torn plantar fascia. They will play against lowest-seed opponent in the divisional round January 16 or 17. It was his second game back after he missed the first three games of December because of an ankle injury he sustained late in the first quarter of the November 29 win over New England.
The choice makes sense when taking in the full breadth of Manning’s career.
“We think the world of Brock”, Kubiak said.
Polumbus came in at the same time as Manning after Schofield struggled in his one-on-one matchup with San Diego Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram.
When first informed of Kubiak’s decision to go with Manning, Osweiler acknowledged he was disappointed.
