Greek airline apologizes for removing Palestinians from flight

Three attackers were killed at Gush Etzion Junction, where similar incidents have occurred, and the fourth was killed near Hebron, the army said.

The cousins, from the town of Sair, were reportedly being searched when one of them pulled out a knife and was shot, according to an army source, quoted by Haaretz.

Four Palestinians have been killed after they attempted to attack Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.

Aegean on Wednesday had rejected Palestinian claims of racism and said it acted with passenger safety in mind while expressing its “greatest regrets for the event”.

The Israeli military also destroyed a mosque in the Palestinian village of Rakhama in Negev desert.

Some observers attribute the recent uptick in violence to a July arson attack in the West Bank by suspected Jewish settlers that killed an 18-month-old Palestinian child and his parents, which led to an global outcry. The area has been a frequent target for Palestinian attackers lately.

Two Palestinian suspects were shot dead at the scene, while the third Palestinian succumbed to his wounds later, it added.

“An initially small group of passengers very vocally and persistently asked for two other [Arab] Israeli passengers to be checked for security issues”, read a statement issued by Greece’s national carrier, cited by the newspaper.

Palestinian leaders say a younger generation sees no hope for the future living under Israeli security restrictions and with a stifled economy.

In a statement, Erekat, who described both men as Palestinians, said Aegean had “given in to pressure from the Israeli passengers”.
