Trump Treads on Sanders’ Vermont Turf
On Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders’s home turf, some of the protesters wore shirts emblazoned with Sanders logos hidden under their sweatshirts.

Scott Eisen/Getty Images Protesters are escorted away from the Trump rally in the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington Thursday.
Despite reports that attendees at the Burlington venue were pre-screened to ensure they were Trump supporters, some protesters were able to get in to the rally and interrupted the Republican front-runner several times.
As the door opened, the Burlington Free Press reported that the Trump campaign was “refusing to admit anyone who isn’t a Trump supporter”, saying that staff were asking people at the door if they were supporters. “And then they walk in with whatever the hell they’re carrying”, said Trump. When he said he didn’t know, he was asked to leave. “I’m taking care of my people, not people who don’t want to vote for me or are undecided”, Trump said in a statement.
Trump defended the decision, describing it a matter of loyalty. The government also said employers added a combined 50,000 more jobs in October and November than it had previously estimated.
Speaking of Obama on guns, he penned a New York Times op-ed containing this declaration: “I will not campaign for, vote for or support any candidate, even in my own party, who does not support common-sense gun reform”.
“The first time it happened was a couple months ago, and I was really nasty”, he said of protesters interrupting his events. He began talking about how much of the heroin is coming into ME from out-of-state drug dealers. They are working longer hours for low wages and seeing nearly all the income and wealth going to the top 1 percent. Trump seemed to grow more angry with each disruption.
“You know what a gun-free zone is to a sicko?” he asked the crowd.
Once, he suggested confiscating the coats of some hecklers and throwing them out into the cold. “Confiscate their coats. No coats”. “You can keep his coat. We need the guns”, he told the crowd.
Donald Trump was greeted by excitement as he appeared on the stage, half an hour after he was introduced by members of his campaign. But what my supporters understand is that we bring people together in this country to take on the billionaire class, to take on the greed of Wall Street and corporate America. “This is why. We lose control of our country ’cause everybody’s afraid to do anything”, he said.
In a snow-covered park near the Flynn Center, hundreds of anti-Trump protesters camped out, waving signs and chanting slogans.
“Oh, would I love to run against Bernie”, Trump said at one point, as the crowd cheered.
Obama has recently announced executive actions created to curb gun violence. Trump likes to tout his support for the Second Amendment and often denounces gun-free zones at his rallies, including military bases.
