New York Giants Grant Philadelphia Eagles Permission to Interview Tom Coughlin
The Eagles must receive permission from the Giants for the interview because Coughlin resigned as New York’s coach with one year left on his contract.

However, the Eagles did request and were granted an interview with the former New York Giants head coach.
Coughlin announced his resignation on Monday after 3 seasons of losses.
Coughlin, 69, said “not necessarily” last Tuesday when asked if his coaching fires had been extinguished and never once called his leaving the Giants a retirement.
In a what-might-have-been season in the mediocre NFC East, the Giants’ failures came down to, as Coughlin often said, “finishing”.
If Bill Parcells can coach the Cowboys, it’s not that far fetched to accept the notion that Tom Coughlin could coach the Eagles.
In addition to Coughlin, the Eagles will reportedly meet with Chiefs OC Doug Pederson, Bengals DC Paul Guenther and Bucs OC Dirk Koetter (see story). “It was time for us to go in different directions”.
The Eagles beat the Giants in the season finale, which ended up being Coughlin’s last game as Giants head coach. But with opinions dwindling (Adam Gase to be hired in Miami, Chuck Pagano retained in Indianapolis) and Coughlin’s desire to remain close to home, the Eagles job may very well be the best personal option for him and his family.

The Eagles have also previously interviewed Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, who will undoubtedly come up in conversations on Monday. He was 72-64 in eight seasons with the then-expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, winning two division titles and taking them to two conference championship games in their first five seasons.
