Detroit primed for big auto show
“Later this month, I’ll visit the Detroit Auto Show to see this progress firsthand”.

You’re probably aware that Honda indeed launched the Type-R a year ago in Europe, and also displayed the concept at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. And we’re pretty sure the fans wouldn’t mind for a third headline; followed by Honda’s debut of its new Ridgeline and the Acura Precision.
In a walk-through of the auto show Thursday, Duggan said the city was “totally coordinated with the federal government” on all safety issues for the show.
“I believe that every American should be proud of what our most iconic industry has done”, Obama said.
“We’ve been through it back in ’99”, said Alberts, adding he has some of the same security personnel from then.
The Obama administration agreed to prop up the automakers – provided they were steered through bankruptcy to restructure their operations – even though it was not popular nationwide.
While critics derided the plan as a “road to socialism” or a “disaster” waiting to happen, Obama said, “I’d make that bet again any day of the week”.
“Today, the American auto industry is back”.
The industry was in danger of collapse when Obama took office in 2009, but reported a record sales year in 2015. Our businesses are now on a 70-month streak of job creation, with more than 14 million new jobs in all. We’ve made historic investments in clean energy and put ourselves on a path to a low-carbon future.
In one shot we have former BMW designer Chris Bangle with a swath of lovely ladies and in the next we see Detroit during the peak of the economic downturn with an artistic sign saying “Everything is going to be alright”.
“The point is”, Obama said, “America can do anything”.
It’s not the first time Obama has tied the Detroit comeback to his State of the Union Address.

Thanks, and have a great weekend.
