Thompson sets up Warriors for big win over Lakers

That was how Stephen Curry described getting kicked in the leg again – the same leg with the same contusion that caused him to miss two games recently in hopes of healing this injury.

Beyond Curry’s ability to torch opponents from beyond the arc, he’s invaluable to Golden State because of his ability to draw double-teams, whip passes around the floor and wreak havoc on drives with his tremendous court vision and soft touch. “So many weapons, so many options”.

“We played good. We just needed to make some more plays”, Hornets backup Jeremy Lamb guard said. Occasionally, he was shooting left-handed three-pointers because he couldn’t lift his right shoulder, and Phil(Jackson) had to take him out.

To get scores, go to National Basketball Association.

“Their record speaks for itself”, said Hornets point guard Kemba Walker, who had 22 points. The injury kept the Golden State Warriors superstar out of two games at the end of December, and he had to leave Saturday’s game early, too.

Thompson was a first-time All-Star last season and could very well be back again this season despite Bryant dominating the sentimental vote in what he has said will be his final season before retiring.

Walton said if the training staff had said to pull him then it would have been out of Curry’s hands, but they didn’t. You’re going to have (defensive) lapses.

Lakers coach Byron Scott has a tough job. That allowed them to somewhat stay within striking distance, as the Warriors only outscored the Lakers by three in the second quarter. He must guide a young team that doesn’t win much, and for someone who tasted championship success three times during his playing days in purple and gold, that can’t be easy. He missed all of the fourth quarter on Tuesday.

As Thompson quarters go, not many of them can measure up to his 37-point outburst last season.

Struggling Philadelphia 76ers’ resurrection continues with a 109-99 win over Minnesota Timberwolves – their third in six games which was helped by 21 points from Ish Smith – while Detroit Pistons registered their biggest win of the season with a 115-89 rout of Orlando Magic.

But the night belonged to Green, who had 13 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists to join Tom Gola in 1959-60 as the only Warriors players ever to get triple-doubles in three straight games.

Golden State interim coach Luke Walton liked Thompson’s work.

“Obviously, this is the team I grew up watching, so it’s a great win”. Harrison Barnes scored eight points in the fourth quarter while Marreese Speights chipped in another four, providing more than enough firepower to seal the win. For the second game in a row, the Warriors’ decision to play PG Stephen Curry (calf) came after his pregame warmup….
