Dolphins making progress toward deal with Gase
The clarity of Gase’s candidacy apparently has had a ripple effect on others.

But the buzz about Gase, 37, has been building in South Florida all week.
If Gase does leave the Giants interview still feeling as though the Eagles are his number one option, the Eagles may need to move fast in attempting to get him back to the Novacare complex and hammering out a deal.
Where he might end up: Browns, Dolphins, Giants and Eagles have all interviewed him.
The interview reportedly went “well” with Gase, who the Browns tried to pursue the last time they had a coaching change, but Gase wanted no part of the Browns at that time. He’ll also have his work cut out for him; Miami hasn’t had a winning season since ’08, and has finished below. Should the Chiefs advance, next week is the “window” for Pederson to interview with other teams.
Resolution of the search isn’t expected quickly, with interviews scheduled into next week. The latest to be scheduled is with Dallas secondary coach Jerome Henderson. He was brought in by coach Eric Mangini and stayed for the first year of Pat Shurmur’s tenure before leaving for the Cowboys.
Henderson, 46, is the first position coach in the mix for the Browns.
ESPN’s John Clayton (via SB Nation’s Jimmy Morris) told Nashville radio station 102.5 The Game that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is interested in the Titans’ head coaching opening.
Quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains would be a logical Bears’ in-house candidate for offensive coordinator.
Austin, 50, got the second shot to impress the Browns on Wednesday.
The Bears offense ranked 21 in the National Football League in total yards and yards per play in 2015. His boss, Lions coach Jim Caldwell, gave a strong recommendation. On top of that, he barely has any experience as an offensive coordinator. Marrone is now the assistant head coach/offensive line coach of the Jaguars under Gus Bradley. Compare him to Cincinnati Bengals OC Hue Jackson.
Despite the Bears’ record, Gase’s candidacy was actually enhanced this season because of the work he did with Cutler. “That’s all I can prepare for. You never really know who a team really wants, but I do know that Adam Gase is very high on their wish list”.
The following year, Gase was an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers.

There’s one spot where they can make a huge improvement, though, and aren’t restricted by a salary cap, and that is with the coaching staff. Over the past two decades, they have had little to no continuity in their coaching staff. From 1970 through 1995, Don Shula coached the Dolphins.
