Rubio appeared startled at various points in the 20 minutes of separate protests, and he eventually had enough when he shot back at one group “we’re going to enforce our immigration laws, guys”. The forum, which will be held in Columbia, is sponsored by The Jack Kemp Foundation Forum on Expanding Opportunity. Tim Scott (R-SC) and included OH governor John Kasich.

Rubio had said he was “going to keep talking through this”, but as the shouts of “undocumented and unafraid” grow louder, he ultimately responded. “But it’s not my event”, Rubio said.

Nonetheless, both seemed to take a veiled swipe at Donald Trump by remarking that though they face protesters of their own, they do not become the consistent, volatile affairs that have become a staple of a certain someone’s rallies.

The protesters represented United We Dream and Young Immigrants in Action for SC, according to NBC.

After the second wave of protesters, Rubio ribbed that he “thought about handling them the way another candidate does, but it’s not my event”.
