Chris Christie in the news

It then cuts to “what Marco Rubio’s leadership would look like”, followed by a clip borrowed from a Rubio campaign video in which he says, huddled over a laptop, “I know I have a debate, but I’ve got to get this fantasy football thing right”.

Front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign, in its first TV ad, begins with photos of President Obama and Hillary Clinton, followed by photos of the San Bernardino attackers laid over police lights.

Christie had already criticized Rubio for his lack of dedication to his job as a Senator, saying that Rubio was spending too much time campaigning and not enough time voting on important things like the most recent budget.

But Christie, who earned a “C” rating from the National Rifle Association during his 2013 reelection bid, took more pro-gun stances during his tenure in the Garden State, vetoing several pieces of gun control legislation.

“The reason they’re coming after me now is because I’m doing well and my message is connecting”, Christie told reporters Tuesday.

Trump, a week before, had called out Christie’s economic record and suggested he was behind the closure of the George Washington Bridge, the central action in the “bridge-gate” scandal, which Christie has denied being aware of.

Christie is gaining steam in New Hampshire–the latest American Research Group poll show 12% of likely Republican primary voters support him.

After a town hall luncheon with Christie hosted by the Manchester Rotary on Monday, Republican voter Paul Porter said he thinks the party should choose a nominee who knows how to govern. He accuses Bill Clinton of mistreating women and says his wife would “go along” with that.

“New Jersey voters really separate the issues they consider important when they vote for governor as opposed to president”, Murray said.

“I haven’t settled on one candidate 100 percent”, said Mike Grover, a 65-year-old Cedar Rapids man who is among the thousands of “persuadable voters” still up for grabs. “If you believe in traditional marriage, you’re labeled a bigot”, Rubio said.

Christie was understanding of the criticism, but countered on Fox News Sunday that he’s been governing from the road.

One Republican candidate said he doesn’t blame Americans for being angry.

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who once enjoyed a wide lead in New Hampshire, has singled out a rival that his team now sees as an immediate threat: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Asked if he was trying to raise a broader point about Christie’s management abilities, Bush said: “My broad point is that my record I think is the one that, if you compare the three governors, in spite of their talents, is the best one”.

Cruz says that while everyone has a right to protest, “we don’t have a constitutional right to use force of violence or threaten force of violence on others”.

“This president is a petulant child”, Christie said, adding, “Now this president wants to act as if he’s a king, as if he’s a dictator”.

For his part, Christie said he welcomes the attacks from rivals.
