As revealed by the company’s chief designer, Scott Croyle, the Robin will begin shipping to the first 1,000 Kickstarter backers beginning February 16. As of now, the company is only shipping out the GSM version and CDMA-version will follow later respectively.
Nextbit is a startup that claims of experts from Apple, Google, and HTC on its team has given the Robin high-end hardware specifications and solves the limited storage problem in smartphones with a cloud-based storage solution. The magic of the phone lies in its smart feature, which automatically uploads lesser-used media files such as videos and photos to the cloud. It’s rocking a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip, runs on 3GB of RAM, and in spite of its cloud-first design, it doesn’t even skimp on the internal storage: 32GB.
The Next Robin is fronted with a 5.2-inch full-HD display with 1080×1920 pixels of resolution, packed in a funky plastic body, along with a 5-megbitapixel of secondary camera.
The smartphone was announced in September past year as the world’s first cloud-first smartphone. The rear camera is 13 megapixels and the selfie snapper is 5. No, it is not related to Robin Hood and it’s a different kind of Android smartphone.
