Chiefs rout Houston for first playoff win since 1994

What channel is the Kansas City Chiefs-Houston Texans Wild Card playoff game on?

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jaye Howard (96) celebrates after he sacked Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer during the first half of an NFL wild-card playoff football game Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Houston.

Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger left with a right shoulder injury on the final play of the third quarter, but returned for the Steelers’ last-gasp drive in an 18-16 win at Cincinnati. Mentally, it just seemed like the Houston defense was checked out as soon as Watt went down with injury in the middle of the third quarter.

They will either play the Denver Broncos or the New England Patriots in the next round depending on the outcome of the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers game.

Most of the 71,800 fans on hand booed Hoyer off the field at halftime, with the Chiefs ahead 13-0 and Hoyer’s turnover count already at four.

And Hopkins was kept out of the end zone Saturday after catching nine passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns the first time he faced Peters, in the Chiefs’ 27-20 season-opening win over the Texans.

The loss to Kansas City in Week 4 last season was a tumultuous time for the Patriots, who were in the middle of what constitutes a slump for them: a pair of AFC championship game losses and a 10th straight year without a Super Bowl victory.

You have to wonder where the Texans defense went after holding the Chiefs to 13 points in the first half, but it was quarterback Brian Hoyer – and by extension, Bill O’Brien’s decision to try and get by with mediocre talent at QB – that ultimately was Houston’s undoing.

Travis Kelce, who also had more than 100 yards receiving in the first meeting with the Texans this year, had another big day, finishing with eight receptions for 128 yards.

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has a concussion, according to coach Mike Tomlin, after taking a hit to the head from Vontaze Burfict.

The 2016 NFL Playoffs kicked off on Saturday with the AFC WildCard games.

Kansas City topped off the scoring late in the game with another field goal from Santos.

The Chiefs – who ranked second in the National Football League with 22 interceptions and fourth in sacks with 47 this season – did that.

Pittsburgh’s running game is doing fine without injured starters Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams. With near four minutes left in the game the Chiefs had a 30-0 lead. Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer had the worst game of his career with four interceptions and a fumble. “That’s not how we expected to play”.

This is the first playoff win for the Chiefs since January 16, 1994.

Perhaps the tone for the game was set right away when the Texans kickoff unit allowed a 106-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game. Every time the offense started to find some rhythm, Hoyer was there to crush it. The worst was on the goal line when, with pressure in his face, he threw a pick in the front of the endzone. Kansas City has a lot of offensive weapons, but the Chiefs lost star WR Jeremy Maclin to injury at the same time the Texans lost Watt.

The Chiefs continue to stay red hot with the win over the Texans. The Chiefs weren’t surprised and stuffed Watt for a 2-yard loss.
