Seahawks running back Christine Michael gained 70 yards on 21 carries while Baldwin added 42 yards on five receptions to go with his touchdown. Trainers helped him slowly walk off the field. That’s 6 yards shorter than an extra point.

Next weekend’s divisional round schedule is set, and it includes a matchup of heavy-hitting defenses in Carolina.

On the second play of the ensuing drive, Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson converted a screen pass into a first down but had the ball ripped out of his hands by Seahawks safely Kam Chancellor. This game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1:05 p.m.in Charlotte, because the Panthers have home-field advantage for the playoffs. The Panthers defeated the Seahawks 27-23 on October 18 in Seattle. On the next third down, Doug Baldwin broke free to the goal line 5 yards behind any Viking. That was the night Bill Belichick dropped his memorable line, “on to Cincinnati”. Washington and Arizona did not play this season.

An Adrian Peterson fumble gave the Seahawks the ball back less than a minute later and Seattle were able to drive into position to set Steven Hauschka up for a 46-yard field goal to give them the lead for the first time in the game.

The situation wasn’t great for the Seattle Seahawks and it didn’t improve any when centre Patrick Lewis’s snap eluded Russell Wilson and a passel of Minnesota Vikings took off in pursuit of the ball and the Seahawks’ quarterback.

_Jon Krawczynski reporting from Minneapolis. It’s possible on Sunday that they viewed Mother Nature as just another of the many haters they love to defy. He wasn’t ready for a shotgun snap, and it got past him.

Trae Waynes couldn’t have had much better timing for his first career interception. Any result other than the subsequent 35-yard pass to Tyler Lockett, and Minnesota’s chances of winning don’t come down to Walsh’s leg.

Mike Zimmer was blunt. “You like that!” That’s the catch phrase accidentally coined by Cousins earlier this season. Walsh felt the same way and broke into tears minutes later in the Vikings’ locker room after completing an interview session with reporters.

As they packed up their rabbits’ feet and horseshoes and four-leafed clovers, the Seahawks granted that the 10-9 win over the Vikings in the wild card round on Sunday was unquestionably a matter of good fortune.

The game was played in sub-zero weather that tied for the third-coldest National Football League game on record.

The cold was a huge factor early and often.

The temperature at kickoff at TCF Bank Stadium was -6 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -25.

The second coldest game ever was the 1981 AFC championship clash between the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Diego Chargers, where the temperature was at minus nine.
