After slow start, Rodgers, Packers overwhelm Redskins
The Green Bay Packers defeated the Washington Redskins 35-18 in an NFC playoff game on Sunday at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

Saturday night, the victor of the Packers-Redskins game plays at Arizona on NBC.
“A lot of people would’ve folded up and said, ‘That’s it, ‘ but we’ve got a team full of fighters”, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said.
Rodgers, the two-time NFL MVP, finished the game 21 for 36 for 210 yards with zero interceptions. The Washington Redskins have won their last four games to head into this battle full of steam. Cousins finished 29-of-46 for 329 yards and a TD and was sacked six times. He passed for one touchdown and ran for another, and he wasn’t picked off.
“I think it helps everybody, but you have to be realistic with fresh starts”. If they come back to win, it would be only the second time in franchise history they’ve come back to win a playoff game after trailing by 11 or more points (the other was in the 2007 divisional round against Seattle, when they overcame a 14-0 deficit to win 42-20). Green Bay will be making a return trip to Glendale, Ariz.
On the very next Packers drive, Starks and Lacy again racked up big yards.
“The line started pushing guys, doing a great job of just getting body on body and giving us the holes to run through”, Starks said. Even though the Packers have been underwhelming, their offense is certainly better than those teams. Cobb rushed five times for 24 yards, while Kuhn carried twice for two yards.
The score was set up by a brilliant bit of improvisation from Wilson two plays earlier. “I said this week it just takes one performance to get us back going in the right direction and believing we can make a run”.
Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams left in the third quarter with a knee injury against Washington.
He’s also thrown for 11 scores without a pick over his last three games, completing 12 of 15 for 176 yards and three touchdowns before sitting down in last Sunday’s 34-23 win at Dallas.
After opening the scoring with a safety and a field goal, Washington added a touchdown through Jordan Reed early in the second quarter to go 11-0 up. That’s right! While Rodgers opened to 1 for 8, the Packers’ first four drives ended this way: punt, safety, punt, punt.
“We became a snowball going down hill”, Rodgers said, “and it was tough for us to stop”. “We scored on every meaningful possession after that”.
The Redskins then went ahead 5-0 on Dustin Hopkins’ 25-yard field goal, but the lead could have been larger.

“They made adjustments and we didn’t”, Washington nose tackle Terrance Knighton said. The Redskins outscored opponents 180-113 at home during the regular season.
