There is one way to guarantee you’ll win the Powerball jackpot: buy all of the combinations. Officials say it’s increasingly likely that someone will win the $900 million Powerball jackpot, which…
Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. “This Powerball jackpot is not only a life-changing opportunity for any person, but also it has allowed the Lottery to generate over $40 million in revenue for Florida students and schools”. The odds to win the largest lottery prize in USA history were one in 292.2 million. About 95 percent of Powerball tickets have computer-generated numbers.
Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery and president of the multistate Powerball Lottery, says officials tallied $352 million in ticket sales on Friday.
No one matched all six Powerball numbers Saturday night, leading to the astronomical prize.
Sales for the lottery game have skyrocketed since Wednesday, when no one won an estimated $500 million jackpot.
According to the rules, the victor can choose to be paid the full jackpot in annual installments over 29 years, or take a lower one-off payment in cash.
“It’s insane how big this jackpot is”, said Alex Traverso, a spokesman for the California Lottery, confirming that the current Powerball prize was record setting.
