Hector Bellerin signs long-term deal with Arsenal

Asked if he dreamed of ever returning to Barcelona, Bellerin said: “If I had wanted to play there I would have stayed there in the first place”.

“The job has just started and I am not thinking of going anywhere else”.

“I expect him to continue to develop [in the new season]”.

“And I came here to stay and to cement my place in the first team and be here for four more years”. The Spanish defender has been rewarded for his outstanding first season in Arsenal’s first-team squad with a huge pay-rise taking his wages to £50,000 a week.

Arsene Wenger has quite the successful history in securing the long-term futures of his talented, young players, and it’s safe to say Hector Bellerin fits nicely in that description. I remember exactly the chat and that was the moment I made a decision to come.

“Whoever it was, I knew I had an hour to perform”.

“Playing for Barcelona’s academy team and breaking all kinds of records was a great experience for me, but then I had the chance to catch the Arsenal train and I took it”.

The former Barcelona right-back made 28 appearances for the Gunners last term and impressed both in defence and going forwards, scoring twice against Aston Villa and Liverpool.

“Last season I got the minutes that I was hoping for and I hope that next season I can do the same”. “I’ve been working hard during the summer and the whole of last season, training the power in my legs and my body”. It looks like Bellerin is Arsenal’s right back of the present and future. Bellerin has exhibited exceptional potential as well as maturity for a player of his age.
