“The Playboy Mansion has been a creative center for Hef as his residence and workplace for the past 40 years, as it will continue to be if the property is sold”, Flanders said in a statement. Another provision states that potential buyers can tour the entire property, except Hefner’s bedroom.

Representatives did not specifically say why the company had the made a decision to sell the property, which was built in 1927 and purchased by Playboy in 1971 for a reported $1.1 million, a figure property agents said was the largest real estate transaction in Los Angeles history at that time.

The listing of the 22,000-square-foot Gothic Tudor mansion comes amidst a continued overhaul of Playboy Enterprises as it seeks to shift from a racy magazine publisher to a global licensing company.

The Playboy Mansion boasts a home theater, a gym, tennis court, swimming poll with a grotto, a catering kitchen, and a wine cellar among its 29 rooms. The famed Playboy mansion has been given a price tag- the only catch is Hef comes with the place.

The Playboy Mansion has been the backdrop of many film shoots and wild parties over the years. Once notorious but now mostly tamed, the mansion has not been especially relevant in popular culture for years.
