The legislation comes in the wake of a shooting Thursday in which 24-year-old Kuwaiti immigrant Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez killed four Marines, including one from Johnson’s home state, at two separate military facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn., before being killed himself.
“It’s a very tough day in Grantsburg”, said Grantsburg High School Principal Josh Watt, who was one of Holmquist’s football coaches. Holmquist was a 2008 graduate of Grantsburg High School in western Wisconsin, before he joined the U.S. Marines. “Carson Holmquist from Grantsburg, Wisconsin, follow similar deadly attacks at Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard and Fort Hood, Texas”. Holmquist’s father, Thomas Holmquist, of Grantsburg, and other relatives declined to comment.
He says he’s honoring Holmquist’s memory and “we will never forget the courage and sacrifice he displayed serving this great country”.
