Interestingly, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan essayed the role of “Umrao Jaan”, in the remake of a namesake Hindi classic originally featuring Rekha in the titular role.

Since the time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan noted Rekha as “maa” at the Stardust Awards 2016 there have been several questions raised as to why Bachchan said the same in front of the entire Bollywood fraternity. In her thank, Ash addressed Rekha as “maa” on stage in front of the audience. While the news spread like wildfire, there is a high probability that the actress called Rekha ma’am which was misconceived by the onlookers as maa.
The “Jazbaa” actor was presented with the Power Packed Performer Award for her impressive comeback in Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa from Rekha. However, Both Jaya and Rekha were spotted hugging each other at the same awards function. We all know that Jaya Bachchan and Rekha are not too friendly and the reason behind it is Rekha’s alleged affair (in the past) with Amitabh Bachchan. It is also believed that the veteran actress sees an image of herself in Aishwarya and considers the former Miss World as her daughter. And when Aish became a famous model, Rekha had said, “Among the models I admire, I find Aishwarya is the best”.
