A roundup of Golden Globes moments you didn’t see on TV
The Golden Globes is also the only major awards show that honors both film and television.

Comedian Ricky Gervais promised to be “nice” but got naughty with Hollywood’s top stars on Sunday upon his return as host of the Golden Globe awards. The two gave each other a big hug and kiss hello just before the show started. Denzel Washington, this year’s recipient of the HFPA’s Cecil B. DeMille Award, received the prize from his “Philadelphia” co-star Tom Hanks and a standing O from the audience. The Martian was also named Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.
“The only person Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to – Matt Damon!”.
-Director: Alejandro Inarritu, “The Revenant”. Critics darlings “Carol” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” were surprisingly shut out as well. Oscar nominees will be announced on January 15. Voting for Oscar nominations closed on Friday, but the campaigning won’t end until the actual ceremony on February 28.
It is important to remember that the Globes have no industry voters and have diverged from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and sciences many times. Most had expected the award to go to Brian Wilson for “Love & Mercy”.
Since Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have actual jobs and can’t host the Golden Globes every single year, the awards ceremony needs to find another set of best friends to host.
There were a large number of bleeped-out words during the telecast of the show, from Jonah Hill swearing while pretending to be the bear from “The Revenant”, to Amy Schumer using an expletive while enaging in light-hearted banter with Lawrence.
But a moment during her Q&A with reporters seems to be getting all of the buzz. “She’s amusing and hilarious and will win many things”.
Taraji P. Henson was as fierce backstage as she was on-stage after taking the Best Actress in a TV Series Comedy trophy for her work as Cookie in Fox’s Empire.
It’s no mistake the highest rated Oscar broadcasts of the last 15 years were in 2010, when “Avatar” and “Up” were nominated, 2004 (“The Return of the King”) and 2001, when “Gladiator” (the second highest grossing Best Picture victor since “Titanic”) won.

Though “Steve Jobs” failed to win over many critics or moviegoers, Danny Boyle’s drama about the Apple co-founder earned best screenplay for Aaron Sorkin and best supporting actress for Kate Winslet, her fourth Globe in 11 nominations.
