Of those familiar, 25 percent were able to name the Oculus Rift, 21 percent named the Samsung Gear VR and 20 percent named the PlayStation VR. A number of those who were closely following and anticipating the Rift’s release have expressed disappointment at the price.
An official price for Oculus VR’s headset has finally been announced, and it’ll start shipping to ordinary customers from the end of March. The listing now says that the “expected ship date” is April 2016.
You can buy the necessary PC from Oculus, too, though.
So, yeah… £499 is how much a state-of-the-art Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will cost you. Oculus is planning to get a combo of PC plus Oculus rift headset starting at $1499.
This morning Oculus Rift pre-orders went live on the company’s site. Gamers will need a high-end PC to play them.

“As a small token of our appreciation for your support, all Kickstarter backers who pledged for a Rift development kit will get a free Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift!”. As has previously been noted, all pre-orders will come with “EVE: Valkyrie” and “Lucky’s Tale“. The VR sensation will come with a microphone, sensor, headset, Oculus remote and Xbox One controller bundled in a rather stylish box. These include Minecraft, a Rockband game by Harmonix, Edge of Nowhere by Insomniac, and The Climb by Crytek.
