This is the second win for the film – star Matt Damon took home the prize for best actor in a comedy earlier tonight.

Director Ridley Scott accepted the Golden Globe for The Martian.
List of winners: Who took home Golden Globe Awards?
Though many wondered whether it really belonged in the category at all, “The Martian” won the Golden Globe Award for best motion picture comedy or musical Sunday night, beating out “Joy, “The Big Short,” “Trainwreck” and “Spy”. Though Inarritu had a similar run at the Academy Awards last year with the best-picture winning “Birdman”, he won only a share of best screenplay at last year’s Globes.
“They’re more interested in what Lucy’s wearing, with this Frozen stuff”, Damon, 45, told reporters in the press room at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
He has been nominated five other times over the years but had not won until this year. Damon trumped Christian Bale and Steve Carell for The Big Short, Al Pacino for Danny Collins and Mark Ruffalo for Infinitely Polar Bear.
Amazon’s “Mozart in the Jungle”, about classical musicians in NY, was named best TV comedy. The Revenant also earned Best Picture and Best Director trophies for Alejandro GonzalezIñárritu.
Watching a man struggle for survival in a barren Martian wasteland sounds pretty grim, but according to the Golden Globes, The Martian is not a drama (and we can kinda agree with them). -Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone, “Creed”.
Best foreign language film went to Hungary’s Laszlo Nemes’ “Son of Saul”, a harrowing view of life inside Auschwitz. The Globes have instead grown into one of the most popular award show broadcasts of the year, thanks to increasingly credible nominees, its trademark relaxed atmosphere and its unique position as a major awards show that honors both film and television. -Animated Film: “Inside Out”.
Actress, Movie or Limited Series: Lady Gaga, “American Horror Story: Hotel”.
Will The Martian get nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars?
Taraji P. Henson was as fierce backstage as she was on-stage after taking the Best Actress in a TV Series Comedy trophy for her work as Cookie in Fox’s Empire.

FX’s anthology series is a critics favorite and won two Globes previous year for lead actor (Billy Bob Thornton) and limited series.
