Meanwhile, holders Arsenal, attempting to become only the third team to win the competition for three successive years, have been rewarded for beating Sunderland 3-1 with a home tie against Burnley.

The only totally top-flight tie that is certain to be played sees Crystal Palace, who also had to beat Premier League opposition in the third round when they won 2-1 at Southampton, host Stoke.

Manchester United will visit Derby, now second in the Championship, nearly certain to be their 48th consecutive televised FA Cup tie.

Giant killers Oxford United, who beat Premier League Swansea City 3-2 on Sunday, have a less glamorous home tie to fourth tier rivals Newport County or second tier Blackburn Rovers – manager Michael Appleton’s previous employers.

The winners of the all League Two replay between Yeovil and Carlisle will take on Everton in the fourth round.

National League side Eastleigh, the lowest-ranked side left in the FA Cup, will face Leeds in the fourth round if they defeat Bolton in a replay.

Chelsea are to travel to the victor of the replay between Northampton Town and MK Dons and either Leicester City or Tottenham will visit Colchester United.
