Frigid NY weather encases auto in ice

Reporter Matt Bove shared an incredible image of a auto that was frozen solid after being covered with a thick layer of ice near New York State Route 5.

The winter weather got the best of a vehicle that was parked next to Lake Erie in Buffalo, New York, Monday.

WKBW reported that gusts of wind reaching speeds of up to 47mph produced massive waves on the lake, which then froze over parked cars.

Another photo shows waters from Lake Erie frozen after spilling over the deck of Hoak’s Lakeshore Restaurant in Hamburg, N.Y, just south of Buffalo.

Snow is due to reach the south of England on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight.

The area around Buffalo has been hit by severe cold weather in the past week, and snow showers are expected to continue in the coming days. A lake effect snow band was dumping about 2 inches of snow per hour on the region Monday morning.
