Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira Cast as Tupac Shakur’s Mother
At one point, in 2009, Afeni Shakur and Morgan Creek fought a legal battle over the project; the dispute has since been resolved, and Afeni Shakur is an executive producer on the film.

While Gurira is best-known as the resourceful, a**-kicking Michonne onThe Walking Dead, she has a long resume of interesting roles on the stage and screen. Mean and Young Noble, the final remaining members of Pac’s Outlawz, posted a picture on Sunday (Jan. 10 on Twitter )after a set visit to give fans a sneak peek of the actors playing the roles of Pac and Suge Knight (See that picture below). It was previously reported that Jamal Woolard will reprises his role as Notorious B.I.G.in Tupac biopic.
Recently, Gurira made headlines for her critically-acclaimed Broadway play Eclipsed, which also starred Lupita Nyong’o during its off-Broadway stint.
After a troubled start, production is now underway on All Eyez On Me in Atlanta, Georgia, although it has yet to get a release date.
All Eyez on Me will chronicle Tupac’s rise to fame and the infamous East Coast vs West Coast rap feud.

All Eyez On Me began filming last month (Dec15) after years of development delays, and a director switch including Boyz n the Hood filmmaker John Singleton and hip-hop music video visionary Benny Boom.
