Powerball jackpot hits $1.3 billion

“Usually when we have a lower jackpot or a regular Powerball week, we do about 500,080 dollars in ticket sales, so the high jackpot is really encouraging people to get out there to buy tickets”, Watson said.

The next Powerball drawing for Wednesday night is expected to hit a record $1.4 billion, with the cash option worth $868 million.

The New Hampshire Lottery’s billboards and signs weren’t equipped for a jackpot to reach the billion-dollar mark. Of the top 10 ticket sellers for last week’s drawing, eight were Hy-Vee stores in the Cedar Rapids and Des Moines areas.

The ever-growing Powerball jackpot has jumped again to a whopping .5 billion on Tuesday from $1.4 billion the day before.

“There was NO JACKPOT WINNER in tonight’s #Powerball”. The Bondurant couple won a $202 million Powerball jackpot in 2012 with a ticket purchased at the neighboring Casey’s General Store. Though there will probably be more tickets sold this time around, let’s assume for the moment that Wednesday’s drawing attracts the same amount of interest as the last one.

According to Powerball data, the state with the most winning tickets sold is IN with 38 since 1990.

Powerball is sold in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Previously, players chose five numbers out of 59, but Powerball made a switch in October, so that players now choose five numbers from 69 numbers.

One red one is pulled from a drum with 26 balls.

No one matched all six Powerball numbers on Saturday night – 16-19-32-34-57 and Powerball number of 13 – so the jackpot is still theirs for the taking. All six numbers must be correct to win, although the first five can be in any order.

The final number, however, must be the Powerball number.

But as this Powerball prize goes to where no jackpot has gone before, something else struck us. Now our victor has $604.5 million left to spend.

With all the hype around the drawing this Wednesday, Watson wants players to keep a couple things in mind.

The meme claims that splitting the jackpot between everyone in the United States would mean we each get a little over $4 million. Three other tickets won $2 million because they paid extra to multiply smaller prizes.

None of the winners come from states where they can remain anonymous, and none of them have claimed their prizes.
