49ers sack coach Tomsula after ending 2015 dismal campaign
“The results of this season rest on my shoulders squarely”.

For now, the story is good enough and you suspect there’s a chapter or two still to be written.
A humbled Jed York met the media on Monday in the wake of Jim Tomsula’s firing, describing the team’s 5-11 season this way: “This season wasn’t fun, wasn’t fun for me, certainly wasn’t fun for fans”.
After only one season as the team’s head coach, the San Francisco 49ers have fired Jim Tomsula. Those efforts are clearly not understood.
Free agent to-be Dawson – who turns 41 later this month and wants to return for an 18th season – also kicked a tying 38-yard field goal with 4:33 remaining.
Less than a year after the CEO gregariously introduced Jim Tomsula to the world as the surprising choice to be the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, a more demure York stood at the lectern by himself and, well, owned it.
The end of the press conference may speak the most to York’s revelation about what they lost when Harbaugh was gone.
In the offseason I questioned the hire of Tomsula and openly speculated that the team would take a significant step backwards.
Baalke has been with the team since 2005, rising through the ranks as a scout and player personnel executive before assuming the general manager’s post in 2011. “He’s built championship rosters in the past”. He’s got the respect of folks around the league and his peers. Which means no qualified candidate is going to want the job.
The 49ers will pick seventh in the upcoming NFL Draft in April.
The 49ers avoided going winless in NFC West action for the first time since 1978, a year before Bill Walsh’s arrival as coach. Baalke said he had no issue sliding back further in the first round after beating the Rams. I have no one to blame but myself for that. “I just thank him for everything”, he said. “Next year we’ll be closing out a lot of these games”.
“There are things that we need to do better”, Baalke said.
“I think that’s why the players love him so much”. This is a team that could be turned back around quickly, but wise moves need to be made.
In contrast to his uncle, however, York, has presided over one of the most tumultuous and embarrassing stretches in franchise history.
The St. Louis Rams haven’t finished. This one said: “Jed – Here’s our banner”.
“Interactions with the media”. Some of the criticisms from the fans. “I didn’t get down on the missed tackles that I made”.
“I think I’ve taken things too personally – interactions with the media”. It’s ultimately a distraction. Once again, I’m preparing to be healthy and win the Super Bowl.
Hayne had said he’d like Tomsula to remain as coach. “His success at MI doesn’t surprise me at all”.

But in York’s later statement, he added: “This entire organization is proud and grateful to have worked so closely alongside Jimmy”. “You know they’re going to be bringing the heat”. You have to learn from failure. Yeah, we get it – it was foolish to have hired Belichick in the first place.
