Senate Leader Ali Ndume made this announcement during a close door meeting in Abuja.

It would be recalled, Buhari had on 22nd, December, 2015 presented the budget proposal to the joint session of the National Assembly.
The House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara had earlier on expressed confidence that the budget will restore the country’s economy.
The Nigerian Senate was scheduled to commence deliberation on the proposed budget on Tuesday.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says President Muhammadu Buhari has not withdrawn the budget from the National Assembly.
“But he had said so last week that we did not withdraw the Budget”.
However, both officials of the Presidency and the National Assembly agreed that the discrepancies could be corrected without necessarily withdrawing the budget.
A top official of the national assembly, who did not want to be named, told TheCable that the “missing budget” was the crux of the discussion at Tuesday’s executive session of the senate, which lasted more than an hour.
In the N6trn budget presented by Buhari to the national assembly, N1.8trn was earmarked for capital expenditure and N2.8trn for recurrent expenditure (non-debt).

Copies were however not distributed to lawmakers before they proceeded on Christmas and New Year holidays.
