Sanders widens lead over Clinton in NH

Bernie Sanders for president. The implication was clear: The country may not be ready for a democratic socialist, which is how Sanders describes himself. But on Tuesday, her speech was different, with more sustained and focused knocks on the unlikely front-runner in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Clinton has increasingly criticized Sanders for past votes that were viewed favorably by the National Rifle Association.

If Sanders is to tout his willingness to stand up to special interests, Clinton said at her events that Sanders should “stand up to the most powerful special interest, stand up to that gun lobby”. It doesn’t help that Clinton only revealed her plan to tax the mega-rich this week, and from a exclusively populist standpoint, it certainly won’t help that her tax increases aren’t as drastic as Sanders’s proposal.

“Yeah”, Trump responded, “When I was one, I cried”.

But, beyond Clinton’s comments on deportations, none took surprising positions. I got a chance to speak earlier with Secretary Clinton, joining me by phone from Iowa. Last week, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren commended Sanders for the plans he laid out for Wall Street reform at a speech in NY.

“It’s relatively new for Hillary to talk about that”, Biden said, the Hill reported. We’ve seen the polls showing the Iowa race closing to within the margin of error, and Hillary losing in New Hampshire. “They don’t do it because they don’t care”, Thrane said. “Sen. Sanders wants to dismantle Obamacare, dismantle the (Children’s Health Insurance Program), dismantle Medicare, dismantle private insurance”. “Sanders wants to do”.

Clinton has long resisted directly targeting Sanders, fearing that such attacks would alienate his passionate supporters. She did promise all immigrants would be guaranteed due process.

Not only did MoveOn members vote for Sanders, they voted for him overwhelmingly.

Martin O’Malley, the former governor of Maryland, was quizzed about the percentage of minorities on his campaign staff and asked whether America’s schools are in “a state of apartheid”.

The new assault marks an effort by Clinton to undermine the Sanders campaign’s central argument that the he is a political outsider who will push for radical liberal changes.

“Secretary Clinton and her campaign is in serious trouble”, Sanders told reporters Monday after a campaign stop in Pleasantville, Iowa. Trump said. “He really isn’t even a Democrat”. And that’s going to be a big difference in this campaign.

Consider what comes next: Nevada (Feb. 20) and South Carolina (Feb. 27), two significantly more diverse states than lily-white Iowa and lily-whiter New Hampshire, and two places where Clinton now enjoys massive leads in the polls.
