Just three days after the release of his final album, Blackstar on his birthday, legendary singer-songwriter David Bowie died Sunday after a private battle with cancer.

The pair settled down into a jet-set life that included his music and her beauty business but always as much privacy as they could manage. The two-time Grammy Award-winning artist was also known as Ziggy Stardust, his alter ego of a rockstar alien from space.
Prophetically, its lead single, Lazarus, opens with the lyrics: “Look up here, I’m in heaven”, while the accompanying video shows a bed-bound Bowie playing a man struggling to overcome illness.
The album has been well received by critics and was intended as a “parting gift” to the world, according to long-time friend and producer Tony Visconti.
A fourth Bowie image appearing Friday on Iman’s Instagram page – previously posted to actress Zoe Saldana’s account – holds new meaning after Bowie’s death.

Film director Fruit Chan, who featured Bowie’s Space Oddity in his 2014 political sci-fi thriller The Midnight After, told the media that he had hoped to invite Bowie to play a cameo in the film’s sequel.
