Waiters is just one of millions purchasing tickets across the nation in hopes of winning the $1.5 billion jackpot. In 2009, lotteries in 11 states brought in more revenue than the corporate income tax.

As thousands of Coloradans continue to pour money into the lottery you may be surprised to know that not all the money used to buy tickets goes into the jackpot winnings.
Alaska’s stand was still puzzling to Stacy Castle, a baker at Alaska Coffee Roasting Company in Fairbanks.
Khallinah Waiters bought her first pair of Powerball tickets on her son’s two-month birthday.
