Star Wars: The Force Awakens just became the #1 all-time in domestic box office, beating Avatar’s $760.5 million, Disney announced in an official press release Wednesday night, based on early box office results.

It remains to be seen whether the film can reach “Avatar’s” worldwide record of almost $2.8 billion.

The movie opens in China on January 9, which will give the grosses a significant boost, but some are now predicting the film may end up in the mid-$2 billion range.
