Miami Dolphins hire Adam Gase as new head coach

The Miami Dolphins hired Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase on Thursday to fill the team’s head coaching vacancy.

The team announced the hiring of the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator on Twitter. The Dolphins seem to have had nothing but problems finding the right coach in their past few years.

Miami interviewed seven candidates but Gase was the only one who the team gave a second interview. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said.

Packers: Cornerback Sam Shields will miss Green Bay’s wild-card playoff game against Washington on Sunday because of a concussion.

In Denver, Gase began as a receivers coach in 2009-10 before coaching quarterbacks in 2011-12, and eventually becoming the coordinator in 2013.

“I’ve been in this profession since I was 18”, he said. “That’s more than half my life”.

“I knew that coming into it that if we do OK that this was just going to boost him even more, and we’d probably lose him after one year”. Sooner or later you have to settle down and stop being so quick in your decisions. “Every week is a growing experience”.

What qualities did Gase believe set him apart from other candidates?

“We’ll be working on that today”, he said Saturday. “Adam is a players’ coach”.

No time at all was wasted in the Miami Dolphins’ coaching search. Gase also will be calling all the plays, something he says he’s comfortable doing. Having both Tannehill and Suh on the same page with their next head coach certainly helps the Dolphins reel in an offensive coach of Gase’s caliber. I’ve always been impressed with his work ethic and his eagerness to learn more. “He’s ready for this for sure”.

Prior quarterbacks Cutler and Manning were very complimentary of Gase upon his hire Saturday. “He will now continue to have success in this league”.

Adam Gase emerged as the front-runner yesterday in the Miami Dolphins’ coaching search. “Adam had a great impact on me during our years together here in Denver as my quarterbacks coach and then as offensive coordinator”. They recently were looking for a new coach and they found him in Gase, they hope, according to ESPN. He is 29-35 as a starter and has yet to post a winning season. Cutler produced a career-high passer rating of 92.3 despite losing a number of his key weapons to injuries. But their near-deal with Gase fell through and the 49ers instead promoted defensive line coach Jim Tomsula to head coach.
