Aston Villa captain Micah Richards branded “brave” after confronting

Villa’s players were subjected to a torrent of abuse from a handful of fans as they boarded the team buss after Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup third-round draw at League Two side Wycombe, while Micah Richards had exchanged views with disappointed supporters in the stands immediately following the game.

“My target is only to try to help this football club to get through this very bad period and I am doing my best”. I won’t be taking part as I feel we can make our views heard a lot more effectively by being vocal within the stadium so I will be in my seat for kick-off.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Ashley Williams identifies three things that we learned from the game…

Villa boss Garde has sent a transatlantic warning to Lerner that the squad he splashed £55m on in the summer needs major surgery. No use with unauthorized audio, video, data, fixture lists, club/league logos or “live” services.

The Midlands strugglers drew 1-1 against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup third round on January 9 and, following the game, the French manager questioned the desire of his players.

“It was a really hard game to scout because in the last 12 games they’ve changed formation or personnel 10 times”.

Villa’s failure to win simply confirms the deeper malaise at Villa Park, and the fact Garde has inherited a desperately poor squad that does not look like it has what it takes to mount the sort of miracle recovery they will need to stay in the Premier League.

A last minute Nakhi Wells penalty took Reading’s tie at Town to a replay on Saturday after goals from Matej Vydra and Hal Robson-Kanu had put the Royals 2-1 in front.

He saіd: “і know football, іn every country іt’s the same. і understand completely the fans’ frustratіon. і am not surprіsed because і know that from sіtuatіons from dіfferent clubs і have played and worked for”.

Speaking about his situation with the Daily Mirror before Christmas, the former Newcastle man said: ‘I am dealing with it.

Villa were even closer to a late victor when Rudy Gestede’s deflected shot rebounded off the angle between post and crossbar, but Wycombe held on.

“This game would be worth £144,000 if it screened live on TV, which we hope it will be now of course”.

Garde has asked Lerner to address Villa’s desperate situation with the owner having barely spoken to the press since 2010 as he has only been at the crisis club since replacing Tim Sherwood in November.

“We need to get off to a good start and if there is a volatile atmosphere there we don’t want to give them any sort of encouragement to get behind the Aston Villa team”, Millen said. We have been there at the bottom of the league but fortunately managed to get ourselves out of it so we know what that pressure is like.
