Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Hamilton

The National Storm Prediction Center has issued a thunderstorm outlook that has the Chicago area close to the bulls eye for thunderstorm development from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m.

Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms that may bring strong wind gusts, large hails and heavy rain, the weather agency said. Timing of the frontal passage is a little uncertain – should the front delay somewhat, another round of severe thunderstorms could occur in the afternoon, most likely in southern and eastern portions of our area.

Residents are advised to stay indoors if a thunderstorm strikes. Now that’s Texas hot.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight for Will, DuPage, Cook and Kendall Counties. That heat and moisture is helping add fuel to the atmosphere as a cold front makes it way east across CNY Sunday evening. While temperatures will still be warm with highs in the mid 80s, you’ll definitely notice the lower humidity in the air. Our next risk of rain is late Monday night into Tuesday.
