Magnitude Earthquake Strikes India

In the Manipur state, people saw their furniture “knocked over” but there is no major damage reported.
Four of the five killed in Manipur were women, Inspector General of Police Clay Khongsai told IANS.

Residents said power and communication links were down in the remote region. A Central medical team comprising orthopedics, surgeons, anesthesiologist and other technicians has also been deputed to Manipur to assist with the treatment of injured people.
This northeast region of India is considered top 6 of the most earthquake-prone area in the world.

Some power facilities suffered damage during the quake and the power supply to Imphal remains disrupted.
