Where can I watch the Powerball jackpot drawing?

Mike Hanson knows his chances are slimmer than slim but he already has plans for how he would spend his Powerball winnings.

Massachusetts Lottery retailers were churning out over $23,000 in Powerball sales per minute, according to state lottery officials. Prior to this jackpot, the largest Powerball jackpot was $590.5 million won in Florida in May 2013.

How do I buy a ticket?

The world record jackpot’s cash option is now an estimated $930 million.

Lottery officials said they were not sure what the record is for the highest percentage of combinations in play before anyone won.

“People thought the lottery was somehow going to fund schools, or it would be a huge increase”, said Seliger.

That’s thanks to an October rule change by Powerball that made it easier to win a second-tier prize, but more hard to take home a big jackpot. “We don’t have packages, just whatever amounts you want”, he said.

But Powerball issues partial winnings to people who have at least some matching numbers.

According to Florida Lottery’s website, flalottery.com, Florida is among the top-selling Powerball states, exceeding more than $3.2 billion in sales, yielding $1.3 billion in education funding since it launched here in January 2009. Per $2 ticket, that works out to $1.43, plus 32 cents for the lower-tier prizes, minus 70 cents for taxes, totaling $1.05 in expected earnings per ticket. Here are six fun facts about the largest jackpot ever. Powerball fever must not have spread to the U.S. Virgin Islands, which also had just 10 winners per 1,000 people.

However, it’s true that as jackpots increase, more people typically play the game.
