Two Labour/Co-op MPs have resigned their shadow minister posts following Jeremy Corbyn’s reshuffle.

Another member of the shadow cabinet, culture spokesman Michael Dugher, was earlier sacked.

Eagle has also previously been the shadow secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs under former Labour Party leader Ed Miliband and lists transport, housing and employment as her political interests.

In the third day of Corbyn’s so-called “revenge reshuffle” Hilary Benn, the shadow Foreign Secretary who spoke in favour of Syria airstrikes, survived.

Thornberry’s patriotism was immediately attacked by Tories who highlighted how she received a donation from a law firm accused of pursuing false torture claims against British soldiers.

“I can not in good conscience endorse the worldview of the Stop the War Coalition who I believe to be fundamentally wrong in their assessment and understanding of the threats the United Kingdom faces”, he said, referring to the anti-war organisation formerly chaired by Mr Corbyn.

The Labour leader also admitted he signed off the final details of the reshuffle by text while standing on a train platform.

Mr McFadden had warned Mr Corbyn against carrying out a “purge” of moderates. And what you’re seeing is people who came up under a certain system.

Shadow rail minister Jonathan Reynolds, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde, has dramatically resigned from the Labour frontbench in protest at the sacking of a colleague.

“And if you’re not happy with some of that, or you simply want the freedom to say more, or you disagree with some of the decisions taken, I think the principle thing to do is to leave in a dignified fashion, which I’ve tried to do”.

Party sources said Mr Dugher was sacked for “disloyalty”, and Wolverhampton MP Pat McFadden was sacked from his role as Shadow Minister for Europe for the same reason.

But Mr Benn declared as he left his London home: “I have not been muzzled”.

Corbyn, a veteran left-wing activist, was overwhelmingly elected party leader previous year after tapping into a desire for change among grass-roots party members, including many new, younger recruits.

He said: “My great failing in life is to listen to everybody at whatever greater length they wish to speak to me”.

“I know he will continue be a strong advocate for fairness and social justice in parliament and will serve the people of Stalybridge and Hyde vigorously from the backbenches”. “I talk to people when that comes out”.

“We are confident that when the economic, security and other factors are taken into consideration, that a new policy will be decided that responds to the needs of the 21st century”.

Mr Cameron said the Tories had increased spending on flood defences to £2 billion as he taunted the Opposition leader over his drawn-out reshuffle which has prompted two shadow ministers to resign this morning, with more expected to follow.
