Obama Takes Daughters to See Hamilton on Broadway
She caught the show during its off-Broadway run at the Public Theatre, calling it the “greatest piece of art I’ve ever seen”.

The Broadway run has already sold more than $25 million in tickets, though the leader of the free world was able to score a seat. The Ngs also attended the “Hamilton” performance. Former vice president Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, caught it in March, prompting Miranda to tweet a reference to him and Aaron Burr, who killed Hamilton in a duel and figures prominently in the musical.
Both spent chunks of their childhoods outside of the United States; Hamilton on various islands in the West Indies, and Obama in Indonesia, where his mother worked as an anthropologist.
President Obama has finally gone too far for some wealthy New York liberals: He’s ruined their weekend getaway to the Hamptons. The Treasury Department says Hamilton will still have a place on the note, either on a separate version of the bill or in a smaller portrait on the back.
During intermission, the president visited with the cast backstage, and White House spokesman Eric Schultz said that Obama thought the play was “fabulous”. As Playbill.com reported earlier in the year, First Lady Michelle Obama attended the April 18 matinee performance of Hamilton at the Public Theater.
