County Jail Prisoners Reportedly Treated For Apparent Drug Overdoses

All six prisoners at the Westchester County Jail hospitalized after possible drug overdoses are in stable condition, Kieran O’Leary, public information officer for the Westchester County Police Department, said Sunday night.

The worldwide Business Times reports that at least one person is in critical condition.

Lt. Patrick O’Reilly said earlier in the day that the inmates were taken to area hospitals with “medical issues”.

Sgt. Bill Flynn told the website: ‘Some may be a little worse than others. It could turn out to be something else, ‘ he said.

About a dozen people visiting relatives or friends were told to leave the jail, passing under barbed wired topped metal fence on Woods Road at about 3:30 p.m.

The inmates were reportedly found together in one wing of the prison complex. A local news report… Police are still investigating what drugs were involved in the overdose. Officers were sent to the jail, as well as ambulances.

Guards came into a cell block at Westchester County Jail in Valhalla on Sunday and found the group unresponsive, prompting the facility to be put on lockdown.
