Thor: Ragnarok – Cate Blanchett Up for Villain Role

Past year in December it was reported that Cate Blanchett had signed the role of a villain in a superhero film.

Ruffalo concluded his conversation with the publication by saying, “She’s [Cate Blanchett’s] just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting”.

Kimmel then questioned if that is a confirmation, to which Blanchett said, “They are just subsituting one Australian for another”. The latest to hit the rumor mill is about Cate Blanchett’s involvement in the movie.

“Chris Hemsworth is busy, so I’ve been working out”, she had quipped.

“I don’t think people will read into that title alone [regarding] what the movie’s going to be”, he told Empire (via ComicBookMovie) about “Thor: Ragnarok”.

It looks like the awards season glitz and glamor have have caused Mark Ruffalo to forget about what he can and can’t say about upcoming Marvel projects.

Speculations were first began doing the rounds of the grapevine when Blanchett appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month and joked about playing Hemsworth’s character in the next instalment. As for the movie itself, Kevin Feige promises it’ll take a different path than the preceding two films.

Nonetheless, with the “Carol” actress’ part still under wrap, many speculate that she will play the role of The Enchantress, who is the powerful enemy sorceress trying to seduce Thor, or Karnilla, another sorceress and enemy of Asgard, or Hela, the Norse goddess of death, according to Inverse. We’ll keep you updated if/when she is officially announced to join the cast.

Ruffalo, who starred as the Hulk in 2012’s The Avengers and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, will be reprising his role in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.
