Olympic gold medalist skier Picabo Street accused of assault, domestic violence

Late December, Olympian Picabo Street was arrested for assault after allegedly getting into a physical fight with her father, Roland Street, in Park City, Utah. The conflict escalated inside when, in the presence of her children, her father pulled her hair. She’s due back for a pre-trial hearing on February 16th and even though these are misdemeanor charges, Summit County Chief Prosecutor Matthew Bates he takes them very seriously.

On Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that Street has been formally charged with assault and domestic violence.

Her father, Roland Street, told police his daughter got angry and started yelling after he bumped his vehicle into the house while trying to leave, documents show.

He said his daughter grabbed him by the shoulder and neck area and pushed him down two flights of stairs while his three young grandchildren looked on.

Things have gone downhill for Olympic gold-medal skier Picabo Street. Investigators say Roland, 76, suffered cuts on his elbow and neck.

Street’s skiing resume includes a Super-G gold medal from the 1998 Winter Olympics, silver in the downhill at the 1994 Games and a pair of World Cup downhill titles. If convicted, each charge is punishable by a maximum of six months in jail, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune.

More recently, she worked as an analyst for Fox Sports during the 2014 Winter Games from Sochi, Russia. Bridge said the alleged assault occurred at her home and involved a male family member who was treated at the scene and did not require transportation to the hospital, the Tribune reported.
